A Very Warm Welcome to Reception!

Hello everyone, we feel very excited and privileged to be here to begin your child’s journey at school.
This year Mrs Marshall will be the teacher of Busy Bees and Miss Smith will be the teacher of the Brilliant Butterflies. Mrs Clarkson, Miss Morris, Mrs Scowcroft and Mrs Vickers are also in class to look after and support your child.
Wednesdays are our PE days, your child should come to school wearing their PE kit on this day. No earrings please. Please ensure your child wears sensible trainers on this day. Please bear in mind that velcro is much easier for your child to fasten than shoe laces.
In school your child should have a pair of wellies for outdoor learning.
Every day your child should bring and take home their water bottle.
Please ensure you bring your child’s reading packet to school every day as we read as often as we can with your child.
If you need to contact your child’s class teacher please use the following emails:

Phonics in Reception
In Reception we learn phonics using Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised, below are some guides to help you when supporting your child at home.
The resources on the Little Wandle parents page will help you support your child with saying their sounds and writing their letters. There are also some useful videos so you can see how they are taught at school and feel confident about supporting their reading at home.
Our pronunciation guides are below:
Useful information to help support your child
The Department for Education has published a new guide for parents, ‘What to expect in the Early Years Foundation Stage’ (formerly ‘What to expect when’) which guides parents through what to expect in their child’s development. It aligns with the new Development Matters to help practitioners engage with parents about their child’s development.
