This week we talked about our trip to Blackpool Zoo and then we wrote about it. We had a lot of fun and we all wanted to write about Elmo the sea lion and our delicious picnic!

We have aslo been working together, taking turns and following instructions by playing different games with our friends.

We had such a good time we tired ourselves out!

Week beginning 8th June

This week in literacy we have read Dear Zoo and thought about which animals we would like as pets. We described them to our friends and they had to guess which animal we were describing. We also made our own Dear Zoo books thinking about why we would send animals back to the zoo.

In numeracy we have been practising our number bonds to 10. We have got faster at finding pairs of numbers that make 10 and we have explored finding pairs of numbers that total other numbers such as 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9.

In topic we have been learning about what it is like to live in Africa. Mrs Ainscow came to visit our class and she told us all about bullfrogs, snakes and Black Widow spiders and about how to keep safe in Africa. We also created our own pictures of sunrise in Africa using chalks. Perhaps at home you could talk to adults about places they have visited and what it was like there.

Week beginning 1st June

This week we read the story 'Handa's Surprise'. The story is set in Africa and we looked at the setting and the characters. We also listened to some African music.

Maybe you could tell somebody about the setting and the animals you might find living in Africa.

We enjoyed exploring in our new Jungle role play and  we worked together to create a map of the world.
