Week beginning 29th November 2021
This week we have been learning about equal and non equal groupings and arrays, for example, 3 rows with 2 counters in each would be 2 + 2 + 2 = 6 or 2 columns of 3 counters would be 3 + 3 = 6 (think of an egg box).
This week we have been writing instructions for planting seeds. We improved our instructions after checking for commas, adjectives, bossy words and numbers. We also had another go at writing expanded noun phrases, for example, deep, dark ocean.
In the afternoons we have continued practicing our nativity and can't wait for you to see it! We have also been busy learning some sign language.
Don't forget to visit our homework page on Education City.
Have a lovely weekend and see you again on Monday.
Week beginning 22nd November 2021
This week in Maths we have been exploring repeated addition using our knowledge of counting in twos, fives and tens to work out problems quickly and efficiently.
See how quickly you can calculate the following
In English we have been writing descriptions of an Autumn forest using all of our senses.
We remembered to use adjectives and commas and to make our descriptions as interesting as possible for the reader
eg I walked into a deep, mossy forest and I heard birds tweeting in the trees and crispy leaves crunching under my feet. I touched a brown, spiky pine-cone and tasted a soft, juicy blackberry!
Maybe you could write a description of one of your favourite walks in the local area.
In our Art work we have been making collage forests using a variety of plain and patterned papers.
We explored using the papers in different ways such as folding, scrunching, twisting and coiling it.
The children were very creative and some of their work is now proudly on display in our Year 2 area.
Next week we will be busy practising our nativity plays to perform for you later in the term.
Have a lovely weekend.
Week beginning 15th November 2021
This week we have been making different amounts with coins and notes. We also bought 2 items from the shop and worked out how much change we would receive, for example, if the items cost 34p and we paid with a 50p coin, how much change would we get?
This week we have been using commas in lists. We found out about nouns and expanded noun phrases, for example, the hairy, black spider was hiding under the bed.
In the afternoons we have been making tinfoil sculptures in the style of Alberto Giacometti. We also leaned about our digital footprint and how to keep safe whilst on the computer. We continued our learning about the history of transport and how cars have developed over the years.
Don't forget to login to Education City and visit our homework page. We have sent login details home in your reading packets.

43 - 27 =

34 - 18 =
This week we listened to the story 'Tin Forest' . We predicted what might happen at different parts in the story and then we wrote a summary of the text. After that we sequenced the story and talked about the emotions of the main character.
