We wrote a newspaper article about what had happened.

In Maths, we have continued to learn about multiplying through repeated addition.

In Topic, we have been continuing to use non fiction books to find out information about dinosaurs. We have then been using the information we found out to create a fact sheet on the Ipads.

We looked at arrays.

We took off our shoes and instead of adding

2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 =14

We calculated 2 x 7 = 14. There are 2 shoes 7 times.

We used building bricks to look at more arrays and used them tp work out multiplication.

You could practise arrays and multiplication at home. Try the ones below:

How many socks?

How many cherries?

How many wheels?

In Topic we have been continuing to explore with paint. We explored printing and other techniques.

This week in Literacy we listened to a story set in China called the Dragon Dinosaur. We retold the main parts of the story. Whilst we watched the clip of the man reading the story, we talked about what made his story exciting and talked about the way he used his voice when he spoke.

At home please practice the letter sound cards and practice some phonics games. These can be found on our Year 1 home page. We will be starting to practice for our Year 1 test.

In Numeracy we have been making our own number line to help us with our calculations. We have to count on to add and count back to subtract.

At home we could practise adding and subtracting using a blank number line. We could also practice counting back from 100.

In topic we have been looking at the characteristics of the different dinosaurs.

We have been finding out what happens when we add black or white paint to another colour.

We had some new members of our school this week! Our eggs have started to hatch. We have 6 ducklings with us at the moment.

When we went to see the ducklings earlier this week we had a big surprise...
