Week beginning 11th May.

This week for the 5 read challenge:

In Class E, 22 out of 28 completed the 5 read challenge!

In Class F, 21 out of 28 completed the 5 read challenge!

Well done to everyone who completed the 5 read challenge this week! These are the best scores we have had, let's try to keep it up.

What a lovely week of weather we have had. With the weather being so nice, we released our butterflies this week. We have learnt so much and really enjoyed watching the tiny caterpillars transform into the beautiful 'Painted Lady Butterflies'.

In Maths, we have continued to practise subtracting.

We have been finding 2 animal numbers in the jungle. We read the numbers and then said which number was the higher number and which was the lower number.

We used a number line to find 1 less than a number.

In Literacy, we have read the story of the 'Monkey Puzzle' We have used the book to help us write our own story about an animal that gets lost!

In topic we have found out about food that comes from animals. We made our own butter using double cream. After lots and lots of shaking the cream eventually turned into butter and it tasted delicious on a cracker! Yum Yum!

We have enjoyed celebrating Prince Harry and Meghan's wedding by having a tea party!

Week beginning 7th May.

This week for the 5 read challenge:

In Class E, 9 out of 28 completed the 5 read challenge.

In Class F, 15 out of 28 completed the 5 read challenge.

In Maths this week we have been subtracting. Some of us were able to use a number line to help us work out the subtractions and some of us used cubes. It would be great if you could continue to practice at home. We have been continuing to practise counting in 2’s and 10’s.

In Literacy we have read the story What the Ladybird Heard. We have written some amazing sentences about what happened in the story. We are trying so hard to remember to use capital letters, finger spaces, our sounds to spell and full stops!! There is so much to remember! At home you could write sentences about the things you get up to at the weekend.

We would love to see any learning you do at home!

Thank you so much for your support and your kind donations toward our Singathon.

We had a great time singing lots of songs. Amongst others, we enjoyed singing, ‘In and out the dusty blue bells’, ‘Farmer’s in his Den’ the Okey Cokey and lots more classics!!

In Maths this week we have continued our learning of addition. Some of us were able to solve word problems involving addition. We still need practice reading and recognising our numbers to 20 in and out of order. It would be great if you could continue to practice at home. We have been practising counting in 2’s and 10’s.

In Literacy we have read the story Rumble in the Jungle. We have written some super sentences about our favourite animals from the story. At home you could ask you family about their favourite animals and write sentences about those too.

We would love to see any learning you do at home!

In Topic we have been using the program 2Animate to create our own cartoon animations.

We have been discussing adult animals and naming their baby animals.

We have been exploring shadows in our outdoor classroom.

Have a lovely Bank holiday weekend, let’s hope the sun shines!

Week beginning 23rd April.

This week we had some new friends come to visit. We now have 5 caterpillars that are growing by the day! We are watching them very closely to see what will happen to them.

On Monday we had a very special visitor! Miss Longworth's pet dog, Luna, came to say hello. Miss Longworth told us all about how to care for Luna.

We discussed the animals that would make a good pet and also talked about the animals that would not make a good pet! At home you could draw a picture and write about an animal that would make a good pet.

In Maths, some of us have been learning how to use a number line to add 2 numbers together. We have also been adding using cubes and other objects. We are going to keep practising this next week so that we get really good at it.
