Spring Term 2 Goldilocks

Week Beginning 19th March 2018

In Maths this week we have been learning the days of the week and the months of the year. To learn the months of the year, we have been listening to a song and danced along to help us learn.

It’s the Month Macarena!

Here is the link so you can all practise at home!

In Literacy we have read the story of Little Red Riding Hood. We have been writing sentences about what happened in the story. At home you could write sentences about what happens in one of your favourite stories.

We would love to see any learning you do at home!

In Topic we have been painting our artwork in the style of Mondrian. We are learning to paint using gentle strokes.

We read the story of the Gingerbread Man and then together we baked some of our own Gingerbread men. We had to keep our eyes on them as they were cooling down to make sure that they didn’t run away!

Week Beginning 12th March

This week in Maths we have been looking at 3D shapes. We have been learning their names. Look around your home, make a list of things you can see with the shape of:

cone

cube

cuboid

sphere

cylinder

pyramid

In writing we have been writing sentences about saying sorry. We are trying to remember to include a capital letter, finger spaces between words and a full stop at the end. Could you write some sentences at home?

In topic we have looked at work by the artist Mondrian. We have started to create our own masterpieces in the style of his work.

We have used junk modelling to build a bridge for the Three Billy Goats Gruff to cross.

We used our outdoor area to retell the story of the Three Billy Goats Gruff.

Please remember to write in your child's diary when they have read at home so we can work towards the 5 read challenge as a class.

Week Beginning 5th March

We are so very proud of our children for their Mother's Day assembly! It was lovely to see so many families there to support our children.

This week we have written about what we wore for World Book Day. We are getting better at remembering to form our letters with the 'whoosh'.

At home you could practise this. You could write what you did for Mother's Day.

In Maths this week we have been learning to weigh and compare objects.

We choose 2 objects and then held them to say which we thought was heavier and lighter. We then used the balance scales to weigh the objects.

We found out that the heavier object goes down and the lighter object goes up!

Week Beginning 26th February

What a week! Snow and then World Book Day!
