This week we heard the story 'Beauty and the Beast'. We had a go at writing sentences on paper wands. We used capital letters, full stops and finger spaces.
In maths we have been counting using 1p's and 2p's. Maybe you could ask for some coins at home and have a go at counting them.
This week we have been learning how to add two amounts together. We have added flowers, balloons and people. We also had a go at writing the matching number equation,
e.g. 2 (flowers) + 3 (flowers) = 5 (flowers)
Maybe you could have a go at adding different objects at home.
In Literacy a tower appeared in the classroom, we were puzzled because there was a long plait of hair appearing from the window. We decided to read Rapunzel to see if we could find any clues. We have also been practising writing sentences using capital letters, finger spaces and full stops. Can you write a sentence at home?
This week we have ben learning all about 3D shapes. We looked at cubes, cuboids, cones, cylinders, spheres and pyramids. Maybe you could have a look around your home for objects that are shaped like these.
In literacy we read the story 'Rumpelstiltskin' and then did some writing about the characters in the story.
This week we read the story 'Snow White' and did some writing about the characters in the story. Some of the dwarfs had very funny names!
In numeracy we have been finding one more than and one less than a given number; maybe you could practise this at home. As a challenge you could try two less than or more than!
In the afternoons we have been painting winter pictures and weaving winter wheels. We have also been looking at our features in a mirror and drawing self portraits. We are really proud of our drawings.
Maybe you could have a go at drawing someone in your family.
Happy New Year and welcome back to school everybody. We hope you had a lovely holiday.
We have had a very exciting week! On Monday Cinderella, the Fairy Godmother, the Ugly Sisters, the Wicked Stepmother and Joey the mouse visited us. The Stepmother and Ugly Sisters were very mean to Cinderella and they had no manners. We decided that maybe we could teach them how to behave better and we discussed how to do this. We all agreed that teaching them to say please and thank you would be the first thing we would do.
