This week in English we have been looking at using exclamation marks and question marks in our learning. We have also started to plan our very own polar story ending. We have read the story of the “Polar Bear and the snow cloud” and written our own ending to make sure the polar bear has a friend to play with.  We will be using our story plans next week to write our own ending for the story using all the super things we have learnt since starting in year 2. If you wanted to practise at home we would suggest that you focus on capital letters and full stops as well as looking at using as many exciting adjectives as you can!

If you would like to listen to the story of the “Polar bear and the snow cloud” it is available as an audiobook on youtube.

In maths we have been looking at adding and subtracting 2 two digit numbers. We have used a variety of techniques to help us with our learning and we have all done our very best learning. We still find this a little bit tricky so we will be spending next week on this too.

If you would like to do some of these at home with your child please see a member of staff so we can show you the ways in which we have been adding in school J

In our topic we have been learning some winter songs to prepare us for when we go singing in the local community.

We have also been continuing our preparations for our Christmas production of “A midwife crisis”. Today your child will be bringing home a letter with their costume for the Christmas production.

Thank you to all the parents and family friends who attended our afternoon of Christmas craft! The children had a lovely time and have made some wonderful robins which will be on display in year 2!! J

This week in English we have been using our capital letters and full stops. We have been doing lots of work on this because sometimes we forget that every sentence starts with a capital letter. We have also been showing our teachers how we can use the conjunction because in our writing. We used the word because to describe which part was our favourite when we went to watch George’s marvellous medicine and why it was our favourite.

We would like to thank all our helpers and volunteers who came and who offered to help on the trip all the children had a wonderful time J
