Autumn 2

Week Beginning 30th November 2015
We have listened to the Christmas story and talked about how Christians celebrate Christmas. We told each other who we would like to give presents to this year, what we would get them and why. We have also been practising our Nativity for our Christmas performance. We are looking forward to performing in front of you. Please remember to have your costumes in by Monday.
Week Beginning 23rd November 2015

This week we were amazed to find a Golden Egg in our Enchanted Forest! We had no idea where it had come from but we found the story of Jack and the Beanstalk, so we read it to find some clues. We have learned the sounds sh, r and j this week. You could look around your house for things that begin with these sounds.

In numeracy, we have been doing lots of counting and we have worked hard to form our numbers correctly. Look around your house to see if you can recognise any numbers, for example you door number!

Week Beginning 16th November 2015

This week a red cape and a basket appeared in our enchanted forest. We thought it might have been left by Little Red Riding Hood, so we read her story to find out more about her. We have also been practising our new sounds this week, f, e, l and h.

In maths we have been learning about addition. We have been helping Kimberly and Carlos (our class puppets) to add two single digit numbers together using our fingers. Maybe you could practise adding things together at home.

Week beginning 9th November 2015

This week a bridge appeared in our enchanted forest. We read 'Three Billy Goats Gruff' and then retold the story using the bridge in the enchanted forest. We are excited to know what might appear in our forest next week!

We learned the new sounds u and b, and we have been practising blending sounds together to make simple words.

Week beginning 2nd November

We have all been very excited this week because an enchanted forest appeared in the literacy classroom. We found The Stick Man in the forest so we listened to his story and realised he was missing a family. In the outdoor area we looked for more sticks and made our own stick men to live in the forest with him.

The sounds we have learned this week are - g, c and k

In numeracy we have been counting to 20 and we made up our own counting rules. Maybe you could tell your families all about our counting rules.
